Sensory assessment and therapy
Functional Capacity Assessment
Emotional Regulation
Often our emotions can take over and it can be difficult to find productive ways to manage these feelings. We aim to help through assessment and implementation of strategies that can help a person develop the skills to improve their ability to manage their emotions. It may take some time, effort and patience, however it can make a huge difference to your ability to get on with the things that you want to achieve in life!
This type of assessment is all about daily living skills. It involves observations of domestic activities in the home (such as cooking and doing the washing for example), and community activities. These types of assessments are usually completed if you are looking to move out of your family home in to a supported or independent living situation. The assessment period is completed over a number of weeks and a report is completed at the end of this period. You may find that you want to engage in further therapy sessions to develop some of your independence skills, and this can be discussed with your therapist and key people in your life.
Following the initial assessment, we complete a sensory assessment. This informs us of the person's sensory preferences, which allows us to determine the type of therapy that will provide engagement. A report will be completed after the sensory assessment, providing information for key people in the person's life. Therapy sessions will be completed in home. The amount of therapy required will depend on the needs of the person.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is all about therapy in the water. It is designed to help you with movement, engagement and having fun! An assessment will be completed prior to starting hydrotherapy to determine suitability.
*Please note that hydrotherapy is not designed for swimming lessons.
